Off to Safari Land!

Ahh sipping a carrot orange ginger drink at a Crush Cafe. Last day of work! Woohoo!

DH will be here on Saturday! :D ... then we're off to safari land. Have it all planned out. Robben Island on Saturday then Camps Bay. On Sunday we'll head to Table Mountain in the morning then it's off to the Winelands for some wine tasting and gorging on food. Thinking of lunch at Le Petit Ferme and dinner reservations at Reubens.

Oh and before we leave for the "real" safari, here's me at the "zoo" safari. Apparently cheetahs can be tamed. I want one as a pet! Valentines day gift ... anyone? :)

No Starbucks? That's ok ...

While Starbucks has already invaded China, it hasn't made it to South Africa. Perhaps because they have way better coffee options?

We've spent our mornings so far trying each of the little shops along main street in Green Point. Been to Kauai, a health food type place, Melissa's, News Cafe (free internet!), and Giovanni's Deliworld. But the super best one is Vida e Caffe (south african chain)!! Great coffee and cream filled croissants for the morning mmmmmmm ... I'm going to miss it.

Just emailed them to see if they sell tshirts :P

Do you guys remember this from our history texts? Also home to the Flying Dutchman. We headed down here last weekend and even saw some ostriches and horned animal in the wild albeit from a distance haha.

Hello from Cape Town

I got in on Saturday but internet is hard to come by. There's a monopoly by the broadband companies so it's expensive and not very accessible. We do get it at work but via dialup .... hmmmm. Anyhoo will be uploading photos as we go along!

In Transit

Taking a night flight to London is not a good idea. Got in at 8am which is like 3am Boston time. Didn't get much sleep since I was watching Atonement on the plane (it was good!). Stumbled over to Yotel that z & s told us about. The annoying part though is that it is in Terminal 4 and my connection is in 3. Arghk! Oh well anyway I was grateful to get a bed and shower since I could feel a headache coming along from lack of sleep.

Yotel room, 6 pounds an hour. Pretty clever though still kinda expensive. Beats sleeping on a chair though!


Hope I'll have internet before I get to work in Cape Town!

We invited some friends over and cooked dinner. It's really fun when you have time cuz it took us all day and the day before! Here's Moxie doing her job. We never have to clean the floor while we're cooking because she laps it all up haha. Though she has a knack of getting in your way which is annoying .... ok will add that to her new year's resolution ...

To the end of finals! I'll be done tomorrow and I might have an interview on Friday. Haven't heard back though, hope it'll be cancelled so I can start my holiday early. Anyway those finance notes aren't making sense anymore and blogging is much more fun when there are boring things to do ...

Irritatingness!!!

Tried calling virgin atlantic to see if I could change the dates of my flight reservation. Another MOST annoying customer service call!

Me: I want to change my reservation
Agent: What? I can't hear you.
Me: What is all that noise in the background? (Sounds like 100 indian agents talking at the same time so I know it's not a poor connection on my end)
Agent: What? I can't hear you.
Me: GRRR * cups phone and repeat*
Agent: What is your reservation number?
Me: P as in Paul
Agent: T as in Tom?
Me: No P as in Paul, Peach, Peter
Agent: T as in Tom? Can you try other words?
Me: ARHGKKKKKK !!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if you transfer me to India or where-ever but the quality.... I know cost savings are important but how much more is it going to cost to rent a larger office? Don't hire the agency that has 50 people sit in a small office especially if they're taking phone calls!!!!!!! GRRR ..and oh yes, and make sure they can tell the difference between P and T. But maybe it's not his fault, it's the damn over crowded office ...

OK back to studying.

Altercations

Not sure why but I keep getting into these weird fights at school over space! I'm really a very nice and considerate person, I don't know why this keeps happening to me??

Was at the library yesterday in a meeting room. Some Nobo person had reserved the room but never showed, so naturally my team took it over. Anyway team member 1 left for class and I was to be joined by team members 2 and 3.

Then as I was standing at the door chatting with a friend and waiting for team members 2 and 3, psycho byotch appears ...

B: Are you the only one in the room?
Innocent Party Me: I'm waiting for my team mate for a meeting. B: We should maximize space. I have a team meeting. Why don't you guys meet outside in the seating area?
Innocent Me: Erh no thanks. (Did she not hear I have a meeting too????)
B: Are you Nobo? (Points to schedule on door)
Innocent Me: No ...are you? (INCREDULOUS)
B: ... (turns around all huffy) --> leaves
Innocent Me: Sorrryyyyyyyy (dripping with sacharin)

WTF is wrong with this psycho? Who does she think she is? I got there first! Like why would I want to meet in the seating area?? It's the damn library can?? How am I suppposed to talk in the seating area??

So later I spy the psycho byotch peaking into my meeting room to check that my team mates had arrived. *** FUMES ***

What I do at night ..... 2.45 a.m.

FACEBOOK!!! Ok so I was actually doing serious stuff like homework and writing cover letters but then I got distracted. See hubs and I were talking today about whether print newspaper would go out of style ... and we decided that the answer is no. Because reading serious articles on the web is too distracting!!! There are like a billion other things to do while you're online.

Ok so now that my fb'ing is justified, I can get to the point. You see there is no one online or awake to tell my omfg this is so gosh darned shocking news I learned. (Discovered on facebook of course)

OK so here it is ...

1) This nerdy famous professor dude that hubs adores (HAHA) was actually my classmate!!! Even though I've seen his photo like a billion times it hasn't registered ... till today ... when I was browsing people who graduated college my year on FB (where else) HEHE. Good thing his name starts with A, or it would have taken me all night to discover it. (Double HEHE) And come to think of it, I DO remember him now ... next to a vending machine in the computer cluster -> shocking!

2) My old college friend turned stalker/enemy is in Boston. GASP. His last name also starts with A haha. Wait till I get to the other letters of the alphabet. Oh and he has a profile photo on mem drive (where I go everyday!) with Boston in the background DOUBLE GASP ! But don't worry folks, I exaggerate a little, he is not really a stalker, just a little psycho keke.

Ok but my public service announcement for tonight is REMEMBER to make your profiles private on facebook. Don't be discovered by kaypohs like me :D ...

Ahh my blog has been neglected for too long. I think it's growing mildew and cobwebs kekke.

Since my last post, I am back in Beantown. :( Kinda toured asia .... Sichuan, Hong Kong, Beijing, Cambodia. Got a tan and eyelash extensions. The darned extensions are now unruly .... *sniff*

And *drumroll* I found this at super88 the other day! It reallly tastes like nai cha!! I <3 it !!!!

It's a Hard Knock Life

We got in Sunday morning and I started work Monday. School is starting to look like a vacation in the bahamas. I had it good. There are no walls on the floor and everyone is right next to each other. It sucks. I want my nice cushy office back!!! But my friend K is right, you get used to shamelessly surfing the web in full view of everyone after a while (1 day for me haha). It's like ... ostrich psychology...if I don't see them they don't see me.

Though the problem is there is no access to any of those chat clients or personal email. WTF! Do you know how TORTUROUS it is???? :( Ridiculous. And I haven't had much time to do anything else either .... since I go to bed at 11 ...

1000 Loads of Laundry

OMG I can't believe it's Wednesday already. Panic setting in. Have to get the apt into a somewhat clean state or it'll be all gross when we get back. There's dishes, laundry, bathroom cleaning, errands, packing, and why did I put off reading that stuff for my summer job??? Where did my 3 weeks of vaca go?

Guess I'm paying for those lazy somewhat summer days ....

Holiday Weekend

We wanted to go to Nova Scotia for memorial day (I so wanted to go there!) but thanks to last minute planning we ended up in NYC instead. It was aight, we got to see A's baby. Ate at Nobu (which was erh extremely unexciting). Though we had Kee's chocolates which were soo amazing!! (sesame and mango green tea were the winners) Moxie had a good time at the cousin's. The kids even gave her a much needed bath wahaha and let her sleep in their room. Now 2 more weeks to SG ...

Skool's out 4 Summer!

You know that feeling you get when exams are over? Somehow all my favorite procrastination activities (tv, blogging) don't seem like that much fun anymore. And I don't want to clean the apt or run errands. All I want to do is snack all day and think of more stuff to buy ...ARGK!

Anyway to make somewhat productive use of my time, I will plan some mini vacations from our base in Singapore and I will need help from you guys!

My Eyes! My Eyes!

OK I might be getting slightly prudish as I get older. But omg wtf are some of the people here wearing?! I know the weather is warming up but please please refrain from exposing more than arms legs and cleavage! But oh well gives me something to gasp at and bitch about.

1)Offender #1:
Walking to school this morning I saw this girl in what looked like shorts from the distance. but on closer look it was a skirt. and then as I was smirking in distaste as i gloated over the cellulite, the skirt moves up and I see lower butt cheeks! ARGHK dies.

2)Offender #2:
One of my classmates shows up yesterday in a tomato red imitation DVF dress. OK so the dress is aight but omg I can see half her boobs (u know dvf dresses)! Not just cleavage. How is this appropriate for class??? Ok for evening, but class?????

I will keep a look out for offender #3. Don't think it'll be hard to spot since I'm already averaging 1 per day.
